About Us

National City Adult School (NCA)

We wholeheartedly believe in lifelong learning at National City Adult School. We offer a wide variety of opportunities for adults to achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals.

Classes are conveniently scheduled both days and evenings throughout the year. Some of our courses also qualify for Veterans Administration Benefits. Our staff has the experience and expertise, that when combined with the dedication of adult students, makes for a winning combination! If you are entering, or re-entering the workplace; seeking a promotion or pay raise based on higher qualifications or training; need to satisfy prerequisites for employment or college; wish to explore other fields; or just enjoying your retirement; please consider what we have to offer.

Current course offerings include: Citizenship, English for Second Language Learners (speaking, reading, and writing), Adult Basic Education, GED or HiSET Preparation, High School Diploma, Certified Nurse Assistant, Culinary Arts/Pastry Chef, Drones, Security Officer, and Welding.

As the Director of Adult Education, I am proud to serve and support the communities of National City and the South Bay. As a career educator, I can say it is rare to enter a classroom where all of the students sincerely want to be there. Adult school students are not fooling around! They defer the distractions of cellphones and socializing and are engaged and invested in their learning. I am consistently inspired by their diligence and achievements.

Dr. Jay Marquand – Director of Adult Education
